Tips to Having Healthy Glowing Hair on a Budget
As a woman I know that there are certain steps that I need to follow in order to have a clean & healthy body, however I realize that I spend more time focusing on getting my face, legs and hands smooth and moisturized, but don’t focus enough on doing the same for my hair. Sure I shampoo and condition my hair, but most of us women can agree that those two steps simply aren’t enough! We all can’t afford going to the salon every so often, and we feel guilty forking over hundreds of dollars on hair treatments every month, so what’s a girl to do?
Well below are a few very simple and budget friendly tips to having healthy glowing hair.
Drink plenty of water! I’ve noticed that by drinking plenty of water, it has helped my hair look shinier, be less dry and brittle, in addition it also has helped with hair grow longer faster!
PRICE OF 1 GALLON OF WATER: $1.50

Stop going to the salon for color treatments and/or highlights! If you naturally lighten your hair, it is not only cheaper, but your hair will love you for it! What are some ways to naturally get highlights without damaging your hair? Lemon is the most common because it has natural acid components; mixing lemon juice with a bit of water, rubbing that all over your hair and letting it sit for several hours (then rinsing it off), will eventually (within several days) give you a natural looking highlight — without the harsh chemicals!
PRICE OF 1 LEMON: $.50

Do a Hair Mask treatment at least once a week! Your hair is very much like the rest of your body, it requires moisture and products that help give your hair some “water” when it is thirsty! A hair mask is a treatment that our hair requires, yet not that many of us complete this step in our routines! Of course there are plenty of wonderful hair masks at drugstores and salons, however one budget friendly alternative is a DIY hair mask — by mixing honey and plain yogurt together, then applying on your hair for 3-5 minutes (then rinsing it off). The honey which locks in moisture and yogurt which is packed with nutrients, helps tame frizziness, and also gives your hair a boost of shine!
PRICE OF 1 SMALL BOTTLE OF HONEY: $2.99
PRICE OF 1 CUP OF YOGURT: $1.99

Eat plenty of food that promotes healthy hair! We all know junk food is bad for our health/bodies, but did you know that eating junk food actually damages your hair? By eating junk food you’re not only harming your body, but you’re not giving your hair enough vitamins to be strong and healthy! Food that promotes healthy hair include: Beans which help give your hair proteins and as a result promotes hair growth. Nuts which have Omega-3 that helps prevent your hair from getting dry and brittle by conditioning it. Carrots which help make your hair shiny. These are just a few items that can help your hair look and be healthy!
PRICE OF 1 BAG OF BEANS: $.79
PRICE OF 1 CUP OF NUTS $4.99
PRICE OF 1 BAG OF CARROTS $3.99
These tips are very basic and very common yet we don’t tend to practice them as often as we should! At times we are busy with work, school, with our children, or we simply don’t have the finances to take care of hair! We can treat and care for our hair the way we treat and care for our bodies, naturally with plenty of moisture, a ton of proteins, a lot of vitamins, and as seen above even when you’re on a budget, all of this is possible.
