Christmas Fashion Trends of 2012
So the sun has hidden away, the chill is out and the ice is at bay. Whether it’s a family get together, an outing with friends, or the annual Christmas bash at work, Christmas is the time to see and be seen in the latest fashion trends, so we’ve put together some of the main fashion trends of autumn/winter 2012:
1. Oversize Bags
Ditch the tiny clutch bags and handbags and bring in a supersize bag to hold all of your winter essentials (because we all know that gloves and hats and scarves never fit in our bag before!) A bag is also a good way to add a burst of colour to your outfit, so if you’re outfit is primarily black or white or grey then a bright and bold bag can boost your look with minimal effort!
2. Printed Heels
Just because the snow and ice may be slowly approaching doesn’t mean you have to let the style team down and ditch the heels. And this winter there is more reason than ever to get your high heels on because everyone’s going bonkers over patterns and prints, and they were even a huge feature on the catwalks with the likes of Ralph Lauren and Chanel. And what better way to liven up a pair of jeans or a plain skirt with some beautiful pattern heels!
3. Winters Favourite Colour
This winters catwalks were washed with an ocean of beauty when Cobalt Blue came onto the stage, and not the usual earthy browns and greens of autumn. Dresses, skirts and shirts galore, this is the trendiest colour in the shops so why not try a cobalt blue bodycon dress for your christmas do, or a maxi dress for that hot date? Get out there and get fashionable.
4. Oversized Jumpers
Theres nothng better than wearing a big wooly jumper when it’s cold outside, but why limit it to wearing it outside? Leggings or skinny jeans and boots go really well with an oversized jumper and are perfect for wrapping warm in the winter months. From plain to prints to moustaches and beyond, you can get any style you want from a lot of high street stores so it won’t break the bank!
5. Peplum Peplum Peplum
Everyone is wearing it and everyone is loving it! It’s perfect for all body types as it hides a muffin top and enhances the waist. With lots of different dresses and tops to choose from, you definitely won’t have trouble finding a colour that suits you.
6. Put A Waist On It!
With beautifully tailored curves and emphasis on the waist, belts are helping out a great deal with fashion this winter. And with the belt being such a easy accessory to work well there is no excuse but to belt dresses, coats, cardigans and coats this winter.
7. Black Leather
Whether it’s jeggings, jackets or accessories; leather is the sure fire way to add some grunge side to your style. Leather jeggings with an oversized jumper and high tops is the perfect quirky outfit for shopping with the girls. Or if it’s a night out but you want to add a little biker girl to the outfit then throw on a fitted leather studded jacket over the top of your favourite dress and some killer heels for the perfect grunge look.
8. Maxi Dresses
Now it may not be warm enough anymore to wear maxi dresses outside but if it’s an indoor party then maxi dress away! Perfect for slimming down your figure with their long shapes, and sparkly and red or gold hemlines and all over colour are perfect for the Christmas Holidays.
9. The Little RED Dress
It’s usually the little black dress, but as it’s nearing closer to Christmas, we’ve ditched the black and swapped for red, in true Santa Claus style. Team with blood red lippy and your favourite black heels for an easy but effective christmas look.
10. Sequin and Metallic
Putting the phrase ‘Shine like a Star’ literally, wearing an all over sequined dress will definitely make you stand out from the crowd and as a human glitterball you will definitely fit in with the festivities! And the good thing is, you don’t have to wear a sequined dress to make a statement it could be a skirt with a simple black top or the opposite with a sequin top and plain skirt or leggins and your favourite heels/flats for a effortless festive look.
Happy Holidays and as always, keep those beautiful eyes on DropOfPink!
