REVIEW: Chick Nail Polish

Chick Nail Polish Review

I received 4 individually glass bottled nail polishes in the post all the way from America from Chick.
They were kind enough to send the poliahes all this way so I will return the favour and tell you all how fabulous they are! (I apologise for the quality of the pictures not being really good standard as I took these pictures with my iPhone).

All Polishes Chick Nail Polish

‘Ravens Egg’ Shade – a deep blue coloured polish with a sheen finish.

Ravens Egg Chick Nail Polish

Smell?
Not nearly as strong as normal nail polishes, however still quite harsh which is understandable. But the fumes of the Chick Nail Polish is not harmful because it doesn’t have chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene or dibutyl phthalate (DBP) which are harmful to your skin.

Consistency?
Nice, not too watery or slimey.

Outer appearance?
Very attractive, I loved the look of the colour in the bottle and I liked the little white chick on the bottle to correspond with the brand, nice touch! And a sticker on the bottom of the bottle had the ingredients and the shade printed on it.

How does it apply?
Fantastically. I’m not overreacting either. Usually with darker shades they apply quite thin and almost always require a second coat, but this one applied smoothly and shiny and it appears as if two coats were applied. I’m really impressed!
(I applied my own clear top coat over the top of this polish to prevent chips)

How many coats?
Only 1! So quick and easy application.

Drying time?
Around a minute for one coat.

Price?
$8.00 (around £5) so very reasonable!
Overall DropOfPink rating? 10/10! (Can’t get enough of this shade and will be wearing it until the bottle runs out for sure!)

‘Once Upon A Time’ – a light red coloured polish with glitter in so it shines.

Rocker chick 1 Chick Nail Polish

Smell?
Not nearly as strong as normal nail polishes, however still quite harsh which is understandable.

Consistency?
Much thinner than Ravens Egg, as it is a lighter colour and it contains glitter too. But it wasn’t slimey or clumped.

Outer appearance?
A very attractive colour and the glitter adds a lovely sheer to the bottle, and also the chick is just too cute :)

How does it apply?
It applies onto the nail well, however sometimes the polish will split on the first coat while it is still wet however this can be fixed on the 2nd coat so it is not a major issue.

How many coats?
2 for a more subtle look, however you can apply 3 for a more striking look.

Drying time?
Around a minute for one coat.

Price?
$8.00 (around £5).
Overall DropOfPink rating? 8/10! (Fab colour and I will wear it again!)

‘Rocker Chick’ Shade – a deep velvet purple coloured polish with a sheen finish.

Rocker Chick Chick Nail Polish

Smell?
Probably the least harsh of all 3 so far, or maybe I’m just getting used to the smell now ha!

Consistency?
Nice and thin, not gloopy and not clumpy!

Outer Appearance?
A nice colour and very appealing to me as I’m a fan of purple nail polishes! And when you turn the bottle on an angle in the light it shines a beautiful velvet reddy purple colour.

How does it apply?
Very well, the brush (which has 398 strands) helps the colour glide on immaculately.

Drying time?
Around a minute for 1 coat depending on how thick you applied the polish.

How many coats?
1 coat gives a good coverage but you can see slightly lighter areas when the nail is not covered properly so another coat is probably required.

Price? €8.00 (£5)
Overall DropOfPink rating? 9/10! (I just wished it had really good coverage on the first coat like Ravens Egg)

‘Troll Juice’ Shade – a black coloured polish with glitter so it shines.

Troll Juice Chick Nail Polish

Smell?
Exactly the same as the Once Upon A Time shade.

Consistency?
Thin, a little thinner than the Once Upon A Time shade however this may be because it is darker so more noticeable. No clumps whatsoever.

Outer Appearance?
Attractive, and sort of spooky in a way. The glitter is a different touch to the usual plain black shades that other brands sell.

How did it apply?
Well, but it was rather thin. This is most likely because it has glitter in it so the polish separates a little. This separation is covered over by the 2nd coat so no worries.

Drying Time?
Around 1 minute for one coat.

How many coats?
2 was good enough but 3 may be required for a more striking and fuller appearance.

Price? $8.00 (only £5)
Overall DropOfPink rating? 8/10! (Loved the glitter but I wish it had better coverage on the first coat)

Overall my favourite shade was ‘Ravens Egg’. I loved the blue colour of it as i’ve not really seen many deep blue colours around that are that quick and easy and also have a nice sheen to them. I love wearing darker coloured polishes as my skin isn’t fair so lighter colours don’t really suit me.
